School night.  Always a lot of fun.  Well at least sometimes.

The last few days (including Memorial Day Weekend) were spent in the yard.  I rented a de thatching machine and that was a blast.  Granted it just creates more work but the possibility that it will help the failing lawn.  My lawn was really nice for the first few years then all of the sudden it went bad.  Bald spots, brown spots and lots of not really green between.

So the first step was to thatch. After that Mother Nature was kind enough to rain for a couple of days.  Next will be some fertilization followed by seeding and if a couple of iterations of that don't show some result then an aerator might be utilized.

That covers the lawn.  The fun part in the near future will be burning all the scrap from the fence we tore down.  Now I'm no pyro but I do enjoy a good blaze, perhaps it's a throback to the initiall discovery of fire.    The'll be lots of pics from the fire up on Flickr.

Until next time

Long long day.  I slept like the dead.  Which means even though I didn't wake up at all last night I didn't get much rest either.  Luckily for me work was without surprises.  Then came school.  Now I'll complain about school but it isn't that bad, and my company is picking up the bill.  But it just makes for a longer day.  Especially as my current class is Accounting. Some people enjoy this kind of class but to me it looks like a whole bunch more work than it needs to be.  I'm from a K.I.S.S. background which is probably why I never wanted to become a CPA or anything in that area of the job market. The one saving grace for this class is the Instructor is very entertaining so there are few dull moments

Tomorrow should be interesting.  A counseling session and hopefully my wife will be able to attend.  The logistics of our family is difficult at best with three critters but we do what we can to schedule things when we are able.  Thursdays are the closest we get to being able.  Either way it is a helpful experience and is well worth the time and effort.

Sleep tight all.

20090512

Little bit of a pain day today.

Work was as always interesting.  To break the status quo things that should have been easy turned into epic efforts.  I'm not genius but I can do my job quite well, but today it was as if Murphy was around every corner.  Quite frustrating.  Now that is over and just a fading memory.

Returning home it was a beautiful day.  Now most of the time this would be great, I'd come home and mess with the kids outside a bit.  Today though the lawn needed attention and since I have class on Wed and then and appointment on Thurs the lawn needed to be mowed today.  I really don't mind yard work but my yard isn't very "pretty".  For a couple of years it was lush and green, then one year it just gave me the finger and turned brown.  There was nothing I did to cause the change I was still fertilizing and watering the same as the previous years.  So after that I was a bit disenchanted.  Now I'm back and ready to whip it into shape.  The lawn has other ideas though and is resisting.  Just the eternal battle of Man vs Nature.

Until next time

20090511

Yet another day, nothing spectacular happened but nothing tragic happened either.  Its along the lines of the curse "May you live in interesting times", not sure who said first but I take no credit.

The kids had another "Marching Band Practice" and we're still short one instrument but they have a blast anyway.  Intersting coincidence as soon as they started "playing" it started to rain and when they were finished, Katelyn petered out, the rain stopped.

I've been looking into the Freemasons as they seem like they might be like minded people.  As I know no Freemasons it's a little difficult, but the Internet is my friend.

Catch you next time.

Mothers day.

First a Happy Mothers Day to all Mothers out there.  Its a tough job but someone has to do it.

Now on to the day itself.  Nothing Earth shattering of note today.  Moved a boat load of rocks, made dinner for the kids and prior to that let them have a "marching band" event.  Granted they're six and can probably stil play the trombone and trumpet better than I can,  I guess I just don't have "it" for music.  Left to do is some homework and trash night, action packed I tell you.
